The 5-Day Silent MBSR Retreat includes meditation instruction, short talks by teachers, guided sessions of mindfulness meditation practice, including sitting meditation, walking meditation, movement exercises and mindful eating. Participants will keep Noble or Grand Silence throughout the 5 days. There will also be opportunities for individual conferences with the retreat facilitator(s).
The retreat is modeled on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) principles developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli at the Center for Mindfulness in the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Mark Dannenfelser is the retreat facilitator and senior teacher. He has completed the MBSR teacher development intensive training program taught by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Saki Santorelli and senior staff from the Center for Mindfulness (CFM) and is a CFM Qualified Teacher of MBSR.
NOTE: Prior experience with a personal meditation practice is recommended. If you are new to mindfulness practice or would prefer an introductory program, you may consider the one day introductory workshop, a weekend retreat, and/or the 8-week MBSR course.
Note: Retreat begins 6:00 Sunday with a welcome reception and dinner. Retreat ends 1:30 Friday after lunch.
